where?

All lessons are conducted in my home studio at 614 E Jenkins Ave in Columbus.

what?

Lessons are fun experiences in which children are engaged in a variety of activities. The majority of the lesson, of course, will consist of working on new/in-progress pieces and technical exercises, though other activities may include: sight reading, ear training, composing, improvising, learning about music history, playing music-related games, practicing rhythm by marching and/or using the hand drum in my studio, studying music theory, using music flashcards, discussing the child's music goals, preparing for RCM exams, and more.

how often and for how long?

Lessons occur weekly or twice weekly. Beginners may enroll in 40 minute lessons. Intermediate students may enroll in 40 or 60 minute lessons. Advanced students and adults may enroll in 60 minute lessons.

what do I bring?

Students are responsible for bringing music and assignment books to every lesson, though parents and sitters may want to check bags for younger students until they can remember what to bring on their own.

how long will you be my teacher?

I will teach you for as long as I can, with the knowledge that, at certain points in a student's development, it may be appropriate to move on to other teachers for the best learning experience. If this is the case, I will make the recommendation, though I always encourage families to explore these opportunities on their own if they desire. There is nothing more important than an excellent relationship between student, teacher, and parent.

The first step for interested clients is to set up a trial lesson ($45) so that I can meet you and your student(s), give you a sampling of my teaching style, give you information about my studio policies and events, and also discuss your specific goals. This is just a consultation and does not commit you to taking lessons with me. Head to my contact page or call me at (614) 859-6663 to set up an appointment.
